This is a great opportunity to deepen your practise or for beginners to jump in at the deep end! The Sunra Yoga Retreat will be hosted by Barbara Gordon, founder and director of The Sivananda Yoga Centre (London) & her team. The retreats are small which ensures you receive very personalised attention to your individual needs. Barbara's 50 years experience of teaching enables her to see very quickly exactly what people need physically and mentally. Apart from all the huge benefits from the yoga, we incorporate diet, nutrition and therapeutic treatments.
The combination of yoga, diet, nutrition, meditation, sun, sea and very fresh air leaves people feeling re-energized, refreshed and revitalized. There are two Sivananda based yoga classes per day, each lasting one & a half hours, generally at 8.00am & 5.00pm, with one free day per week. Sivananda is a soft, gentle style of Hatha yoga. Each class incorporates pranayama, asanas, stretching & Meditation & are tailored to the individual needs of each student.
The retreats will be hosted at Satori, a custom built retreat centre comprising of four villas built around a private pool, near the village of Xaghra. In this serene environment you really have the feeling of getting away from it all, making it such an ideal location for a retreat! .
The spacious villas have two to four bedrooms with ample bathroom facilities, a kitchen, dining room and terrace. There is an outdoor and indoor space for your yoga practice and a pool area with stunning views. There is also a dedicated treatment room. Complimentary WIFI is available throughout the property.
Xaghra is a very quaint village with a number of restaurants and bars dotted round the village square. It is located in the North East part of Gozo, mid-way between Victoria (Gozo's capital city) and Ramla Bay (one of Gozo's most popular sandy beaches), on a plateau 140 metres above sea level. It is possibly the earliest inhabited part of Gozo, being home to the Ġgantija megalithic temples, the Xagħra Stone Circle, as well as natural underground features such as Xerri's Grotto and Ninu's Cave. There are beautiful walks all around the area.

There is a flat rate of €2 for any bus journey or you can purchase a 7-day Explore card for €21 which you can use to go to all the sites of interest in any part of Malta and Gozo. You can hop on or off anytime, as many times as you want, at any time. This card is valid for travel on day services and night services. You can also hire cars from €15 per day, bicycles & scooters locally, please ensure you bring your licence!
The nearest place to swim in the sea is Ramla Beach, a ten minute walk away. Another fabulous location to swim is at the inlet at Dwejra. The coastline is very picturesque with traditional colourful fishing boats bobbing up and down, and with beautiful nature surrounding the lagoon. It has shallow, calm and safe waters with a pebbly shore and seabed.
There are two sandy beaches on the island. Ramla Bay, which is the largest of the two, offers sun beds, umbrellas & a cafeteria & San Blas, which is small with a very steep walk from the road, but worth the trek! There is a jeep service available for €3 each way if you prefer to take it easy. There are also sun beds, umbrellas & a cafeteria here.
Victoria, the capital of Gozo, is buzzy & lively, full of shops, restaurants & cafes where you can sit outside & watch the world go by. You can also visit Gran Castello, a citadel in an area of Victoria which has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. The Cittadella is a combination of a medieval castle and an early modern gunpowder fortress, with its northern walls retaining a largely medieval form and its southern walls dating back to a 17th-century reconstruction.

Ġgantija in Xaghra is a megolithic temple, the oldest known ruins in the world, even older than the Pyramids. Coach parties stop here but if you wait for them to pass through it is much easier to get a sense of the scale of the temples and the effort it must have taken to construct then so long ago. There is some information given out and tickets for here also get you into the Ta Kola windmill and can be used once for each attraction over a couple of weeks so you don't need to visit them both on the same day
Most villages in Gozo have a quaint square in its centre with a church. These squares are generally surrounded by bars and restaurants. The churches are stunning and always worth a visit!
